Sajjad Ahamed

About

I am a Ph.D. candidate and doctoral fellow in Political Science at Wayne State University. My major field is World Politics, with minor fields in Comparative Politics and Public Administration. I also earned an M.A. in Political Science from Wayne State University, as well as M.A. and B.A. degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Dhaka.

My research interests include international security, nuclear deterrence, great power politics, and conflict analysis. My doctoral dissertation, International Security in a Tri-Polar World: Comparative Insights into New Cold War Dynamics, examines how changing strategic relations among the United States, China, and Russia shape conflict, deterrence, and international stability.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, I am serving as a Sarasohn Dissertation Fellow at Wayne State University. Previously, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Instructor of Record. I have taught courses including Understanding Political Science Statistics, Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies, Science, Technology, and War, and American Government.

I have also served as a Graduate Research Assistant with Dr. Sharon Lean and Dr. Kyu-Nahm Jun. In these roles, I contributed to research projects on election observation, institutional transparency, political trust, and inequality-driven mistrust.

In 2025, I received the Saperstein Symposium Fellowship on the Science of Peace from the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at Wayne State University. I also served as a Graduate Ambassador for the Wayne State University Graduate School during the 2025–2026 academic year.

Before beginning my doctoral studies, I spent five years working with nonprofit and humanitarian organizations, specializing in monitoring and evaluation. My professional experience includes program evaluation, data analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, policy advocacy, and project management.
